It all started in first grade, when Julie could read books . . .

Julie ValinJulie Valin always loved books. Her love for reading grew into her being a spelling-bee whiz in second grade.

Her passion for the written word then expanded into writing poetry as a young teenager, excelling in English classes in high school, and obtaining her B.A. in English in the early nineties.

After being a newspaper advertising assistant, a natural foods sales coordinator, a PR manager, a marketing coordinator for a tech company, and a marketing director for a children's book publisher, Julie is equipped with a range of marketing communications skills from many points of view.

Now having the luxury of being a stay-at-home mom with her pre-school aged daughter, Julie loves to devote her time to freelance editing and writing; assisting authors through the self-publishing process for their novels or poetry books; being a poet-teacher for CA Poets in the Schools; co-publishing poetry chapbooks for her small press, Six Ft. Swells; being a featured reader for community poetry events; and utilizing her years of experience and knowledge of the children's book industry by agenting for select children's book authors.
